May 1, 2017 | By HPAC Magazine

EllisDon has announced that Mitsubishi Electric Sales Canada has become the latest partner to join its Carbon Impact Initiative.

“EllisDon is thrilled to have Mitsubishi Electric Sales Canada join the Carbon Impact Initiative,” says Andrew Bowerbank, global director of sustainable building services. “Mitsubishi’s expertise will be invaluable to our joint efforts and we very much look forward to working together.”

The Carbon Impact Initiative (CII), launched under EllisDon’s Low Carbon Agenda, brings together industry champions and government leaders to collaborate and create strategies in establishing low-carbon built environments in Canada.

The Carbon Impact Initiative brings proven industry expertise to designing and constructing hyper-efficient buildings and green infrastructure, integrating innovative smart/clean energy technologies, adopting low carbon materials, conserving resources, and exploring ways to retrofit and adapt existing building stock to meet new performance targets. This will be achieved through four action items:
1. Action Item 1: Building the Next Generation of High-Performance Buildings and Infrastructure;
2. Action Item 2: Developing a Carbon Modelling Tool;
3. Action Item 3: Adopting Cleantech Innovation through Testing and Verification; and
4. Action Item 4: Encouraging Energy Efficiency by highlighting Return on Investment.

Together, these initiatives will work to support the regional growth and economic prosperity of communities across Canada for a sustainable, low carbon future.

“This is a unique opportunity for us to collaborate with industry leaders, collectively fashioning real change in significantly reducing the future carbon footprint of buildings across Canada” says Dermot McMorrow, vice president and general manager of Mitsubishi Electric Sales Canada.

Mitsubishi Electric joins BASF Canada, Enbridge Gas, Cricket Energy, WSP Group, the Cement Association of Canada, Cisco Systems and Avison Young in this cross-sector industry-led action plan.
