February 25, 2013 | By HPAC Magazine

Industrial companies, students and graduates who have completed an energy efficiency project or initiative between June 1, 2011 and June 1, 2013, are  eligible to apply for The 2013 CIPEC Leadership Awards. Originating in 2005, the Canadian Industry Program for Energy Conservation (CIPEC) Leadership Awards showcase the achievements of CIPEC companies that have distinguished themselves in their work to improve energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs). Post-secondary students and graduates whose projects or initiatives demonstrate energy efficiency improvements in industrial settings or applications are also invited to enter. Award categories include: Corporate Stewardship;  Process and Technology Improvement; Energy Performance Management; Employee Awareness and Training Award; Integrated Energy Efficiency Strategy; and Future Leaders. All nominated energy efficiency projects or initiatives are evaluated against the following five criteria: * improved energy intensity – reduced energy use per unit of production * innovation – creativity and ingenuity * potential for broader use – transferability to other companies or industry sectors * contribution to the environment – reduction in GHG emissions and improvement in environmental sustainability. To be considered for an award, facilities or companies must be registered with Natural Resources Canada as a CIPEC Leader by June 1, 2013. The deadline for submitting completed nominations to CIPEC at Natural Resources Canada is June 7, 2013. Contact Nicole Knox, tel. 613.992.3254, e-mail: info.ind@nrcan-rncan.gc.ca.
