Grundfos customers, partners and employees gathered at Lions Valley Park in Oakville, ON on August 29th to show support at the 2nd Annual Walk for Water Canada. The event helped to raise $10,000 for Water Missions International‚ which builds sustainable drinking water stations for communities in developing countries.

“Water Missions International has a special relationship with Grundfos Pumps Corporation,” said Lauren Jernigan, International Walk for Water manager. “Not only do we utilize its innovative solar pump and LifeLink technology in remote locations around the world, but we also share our core values of sustainability, partnership, and being focused on people.”

Donations from the event are used to build new water wells and purification systems in remote communities in African and South American countries. These developments drastically improve the lives of local residents who would previously walk many kilometres in order to obtain drinking water for their families.

“Grundfos has been excited to sponsor the second Walk for Water in Canada in support of Water Missions International. We have more than doubled the funds raised at the 2013 walk and have also increased awareness about the global water crisis, which so many people are suffering with,” said Simon Feddema, president of Grundfos Canada. “Being in a country that takes clean water for granted, this walk has inspired us to do more.Thank you to all who have supported us and Water Missions International.”

Two Walk for Water events in Kansas, Oklahoma and Chicago, Illinois also took place on August 29th. In total close to $100,000 was raised for Water Missions international from the three 2014 North American events.
