HeatLink has started an expansion of its Grand Rapids, MI, warehouse and distribution facility, which will more than double its distribution capacity. The expansion is part of a logistics management program that included the closure of the satellite warehouse in Mississauga Ontario on March 31, 2014. According to the company, the new logistics plan will improve stock order delivery times and fulfilment rates for customers who previously received product from the Ontario facility.

“Our customer base for both heating and plumbing systems has increased across North America and we need to ensure all customers receive the products they need in a timely fashion,” said Manfred Schmidt, president of the HeatLink Group. “Based on a logistics study we realized we could improve overall service and delivery times for our customers in Eastern Canada and the Eastern United States by expanding our main Eastern facility and closing our satellite warehouse in Ontario.

“As our business continues to grow we remain focused on increasing our overall service levels. Plus, in addition to the increased facility space, we are adding 30 per cent more staff to our customer service and distribution teams,” added Schmidt.
