Sprinkler system pros prep for retrofit business

October 30, 2013 | By HPAC Magazine

Seminar deals with standards and technical requirements of impending Ontario Vulnerable Occupancies legislation.

The Canadian Automatic Sprinkler Association (CASA) is offering one-day seminars in a number of Ontario locations to provide industry professionals with information on the Ontario Vulnerable Occupancies Legislation, which comes into effect on January 1, 2014. The legislation amends the Ontario Fire Code to require the installation of fire sprinkler systems in the majority of existing care facilities and registered nursing homes. The different technical requirements of the NFPA 13, NFPA 13R and NFPA 13D standards that are referenced in the legislation will be reviewed to help participants understand the differences between them. In addition, there will be a review of proper design and installation approaches, together with case studies to help participants better understand the process of retrofiting fire sprinkler systems into these buildings. For seminar registration see the files attached (right).
