Daikin Applied’s annual Ideas in Motion Roadshow hits the highway on March 27, 2015. Contractors, specifying engineers and building owners in Edmonton, AB (May 5) and Calgary, AB (May 7) will have the opportunity to see live demonstrations and educational sessions on the company’s new technology platform, Intelligent Equipment. Attendees may also participate in discussions with experts on what the Internet of Things means to the commercial building industry.
Daikin Applied has embedded the Internet of Things technology within its new and legacy rooftop product lines, including Rebel, Maverick II and RoofPak, enabling machine-to-machine communication. Participants at select locations will also have an opportunity to earn Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credits by attending these sessions.
A key aspect of the roadshow is that Daikin Applied experts can show participants there is more than one method of applying their systems and demonstrate a new way of doing things. “Through advancements like Intelligent Equipment, HVAC systems are becoming more connected and more integrated than ever, making it critical to become educated about Internet of Things and what it means to the HVAC industry,” said Paul Rauker, vice president of systems and controls at Daikin Applied.
In addition to the Intelligent Equipment technology platform, other products included in the roadshow include: Magnitude magnetic bearing chiller, Maverick rooftop unit, MicroTech Integrated System controls, Pathfinder air cooled chiller, Rebel rooftop units, SmartSource WSHP, ThinLine fan coils and Vision air handlers.
In other Daikin news, the company has broken ground at the future site of its consolidated HVAC equipment, engineering, manufacturing and logistics campus outside of Houston, TX. The campus’s construction will centralize the current footprint of Daikin, Goodman and Amana brand operations in Texas and Tennessee, as well as add capacity for future expansion.
At $417 million, the new location represents Daikin’s biggest investment in North American HVAC manufacturing operations. Engineering, logistics procurement, manufacturing and marketing will be relocated to the new business campus. Up to 4000 jobs are expected to be created at the new facility. As reported in a previous article in HPAC, operations are slated to commence by mid-2016.
