The BC Safety Authority recently issued The Gas Directive: Propane Regulator Performance Requirements, which clarifies the operational and installation requirements for regulators utilized on propane installations. Specifically, regulators are to be in compliance with the current edition of CAN/CSA B149.1 Installation Code; regulators providing over pressure protection at 2 psig are not acceptable for propane systems unless all connected appliances have appliance regulators in place; and installers must verify that a regulator is in place and operating correctly. This Directive (Reference #: D-GA 2012-05) does not apply to systems installed under the CSA Z240.4.2 RV standard. The Safety Authority also issued Gas Information Bulletin (Reference #: IB-GA 2012-02), which covers the scope of authorized work for the Gas Venting Certificate of Qualification.
