The International Geothermal Association (IGA)’s next World Geothermal Congress is set to land in Calgary, Alta.’s TELUS Convention Centre in June of 2026.

Held every three years, the World Geothermal Congress brings together professionals from across the international geothermal community to share knowledge, innovations and best practices from the sector.

The thoughtful planning included in Calgary’s proposal for the event, in addition to the high growth potential the region offers the geothermal sector, led to the IGA’s decision to select the city as the conference’s host, the association shared.

“With an extensive history of energy exploration and production, Canada is building on its expertise to incorporate geothermal energy into its energy supply chain. Calgary is the heart of Canada’s energy industry, and we welcome the opportunity to showcase our excellent Canadian projects, learn from international experts, and to share the history and beauty of western Canada,” said Dr. Steven Grasby, vice-president of Geothermal Canada.

The IGA is a global association focused on promoting sustainable geothermal energy solutions for reducing global warming’s effects. Geothermal Canada is a nonprofit organization committed to advancing geothermal science and research across the country.
