Danfoss acquires stake in California heat exchanger technology start-up

Danfoss has purchased minority shares in California-based start-up Nelumbo.
The company develops surface treatment technology that aims to improve heat exchanger performance and prevent corrosion.
Three engineers from the University of California, Berkeley, formed Nelumbo in 2015. The company currently employs eight people.
“This is a very promising company and we are excited about the potential Nelumbo holds for heat exchangers and the broader HVAC market,” Jürgen Fischer, president, Danfoss Cooling Segment, said.
Danfoss Drives also celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. The anniversary marks the mass production of the company’s AC drives.
With a focus on developing, manufacturing and supplying AC drives, as well as employing over 4,700 drives specialists, Danfoss hopes to address major trends, including the role of technology in climate change, rapid urbanization, and water and wastewater management. www.danfoss.com www.nelumbo.io
