Acuity Brands acquires Distech

Distech Controls has entered into an acquisition agreement with Acuity Brands, joining the lighting solutions firm’s portfolio of businesses but continuing to operate as a separate entity.

“We believe the combination of our dynamic businesses and strong leadership teams will provide growth opportunities with key customer sets, and will strengthen each of our primary sales channel partners in their respective markets,” Vernon J. Nagel, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Acuity Brands, said in a release.

Distech, a building automation and energy-management solutions company, will maintain its head office in Quebec and European office in Lyon, France. The company will also continue to employ its 190 team members worldwide, including founder, president and CEP Etienne Veilleux.
