Green building innovation in the spotlight

June 25, 2012 | By HPAC Magazine

EXCLUSIVE NEWSLETTER CONTENT The CaGBC National Conference and Expo, which took place from June 11-13 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, featured the launch of GREEN UP, a building performance program for building owners and operators, and the CaGBC Leadership Awards. GREEN UP enables the benchmarking of energy and water use, goal-setting to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and helps identify ways to improve the operational and environmental performance of projects across building portfolios. The program offers access to a national repository that includes building performance data for office, multi-family, long-term healthcare, hotel, retail, K-12 school, and government buildings. The national database is combined with data visualization tools that allow users to consolidate, analyze and benchmark building performance against other ENERGY STAR buildings in their portfolio and beyond. This year’s event was themed Beyond Buildings: The Green City explored how to implement sustainable design, building and operations on a city scale. The 2013 CaGBC National Conference and Expo will take place June 4-6 in Vancouver, B.C.
