Heating, plumbing among PEI home renovation grants

March 28, 2018 | By Jillian Morgan

Prince Edward Island is offering financial assistance to residents undergoing home renovations.

The province’s Home Renovation Programs will provide Islanders with up to $6,000 in grants for major structural renovations, such as electrical, structural, heating, plumbing and fire safety.

Individuals with a permanent disability can receive up to $8,000 for renovations that accommodate their disability.

The applicant must have an annual household income of up to $35,000 and an assessed property value of $145,000 or less to qualify. Applications are prioritized based on income, and those with the lowest income will receive funding first.

Funding is provided in partnership with the Government of Prince Edward Island and the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, through the Agreement for Investment in Affordable Housing. www.princeedwardisland.ca
