The 2014 First Nations Northern Housing Conference Builders Challenge focuses on plumbing.
The First Nations Northern Housing Conference (NHC) will take place on February 11-13, 2014 at The Valhalla Inn in Thunder Bay, ON. The event brings community leaders and housing professionals together to meet suppliers, attend leading edge workshops, and collaborate with their fellow professionals in other First Nations Communities. You can join members of over 80 First Nations Communities in Northern Ontario as they explore and learn the best ways and practices involved in providing quality and safe housing for First Nations Communities in Northern Ontario. Television and radio personality Jon Eakes will once again be on hand to host the popular Builders Challenge. The challenge will consist of four demonstrations and competitions where Eakes demonstrates proper building techniques and then delegates show off what they have learnt for a chance to win. The categories are: installing stack vent and horizontal building drain; installing branch drains and vents; installing supply piping; and plumbing penetrations through air and vapour barriers. In its 12th year, the First Nations NHC has focused on creating an environment that seeks to improve the housing conditions of the First Nations People in Canada.
