Model simulation developed for commercial ice machine

December 8, 2016 | By HPAC Magazine

Emerson Climate Technologies has filed a patent application for a simulation model of a commercial ice machine. The project is designed to support the development of more efficient equipment to meet U.S. Department of Energy targets of reducing energy usage in ice machines that produce 50 to 4,000 pounds per day by 10 to 15 per cent by 2018.

Simulation results from the model were compared with experimental data of a standard 500-pound capacity ice machine operating under various ambient air and water inlet temperatures. For these measures, the model’s accuracy was within five per cent for a variety of operating conditions.
