Reporting agricultural BPV equipment is a mandatory requirement, deadline now November 30, 2021.
Effective July 1, 2021, a regulatory exemption from reporting all boilers, pressure vessels (BPVs), fittings and piping used for agricultural purposes in Ontario was removed, therefore all of this equipment must now comply with the Technical Standards and Safety Act, 2000’s Ontario Regulation 220/01: Boilers and Pressure Vessels and the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) B51:19 Boiler, Pressure Vessel and Pressure Piping Code, and owners must report the equipment they operate.
The Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) in Ontario has issued an Information Order outlining the requirements and an online form to be completed, and the order also notes that the initial deadline of September 30 for reporting equipment has been extended to November 30, 2021.
The regulation pertains to the following equipment used for agricultural purposes:
- Steam boilers
- Water boilers
- Pressure Vessels
- Refrigeration equipment using ammonia, carbon dioxide, Group A1 refrigerants, and all other refrigerants
