The Ontario Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Contractors Association (ORAC) and the UA Local 787 Joint Training and Apprenticeship Committee (JTAC) are accepting applications for the first-year apprenticeship program until February 28, 2014. Applicants are required to have completed a Grade 12 secondary school diploma (or equivalent if educated outside Canada), including at least general Grade 12 English and Math and at least general Grade 11 and 12 Physics and Chemistry. A valid “G” class licence is also required. In addition, applicants will need to be in suitable physical condition to perform all aspects involved in the refrigeration and air conditioning line of work. The highest ranked applicants will be contacted by March 1, 2014 to take a Math, Science and Mechanical aptitude test. From there, those with the highest grades will be contacted for an interview to determine acceptance to the program. Seventy-six applicants were selected in 2013 and 80 were accepted in 2012.
