October 24, 2018 | By Jillian Morgan

The Peel District School Board has launched its Regional Skilled Trades Program, which aims to prepare students to enter the skilled trades.

“We’re excited to expand the number of Regional Learning Choices Programs offered and try to help meet the growing demand for skilled trades workers,” says Adrian Graham, superintendent of curriculum and instruction support services at the board.

Beginning September 2019, students in the program can choose to specialize in a number of trades preparation courses, including construction technology, green industries and manufacturing technology, among others.

An information session on the program, along with a Skilled Trades Showcase, will be held October 25, 2018, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the West Credit Secondary School, located at 6325 Montevideo Road in Mississauga, ON.

Applications for the program will open November 5, 2018 at 12:01 a.m. and close November 21, 2018 at 3 p.m. It is open to all students entering grade 9 in September 2019. To apply, visit www.peelschools.org/regionalprograms.
