Shelley Gray has been appointed chief operating officer (COO) for Industry Training Authority (ITA) in British Columbia.

Gray acted as ITR’s director of customer experience and industry relations since early 2017.

As COO, she will be responsible for overall operational strategy related to customer service, industry relations, training delivery, program standards activities and ITA’s Indigenous Initiatives program.

“It is my goal to bring operational teams together, strengthen relationships and lead change and innovation among trades stakeholders,” said Gray in the government agency’s newsletter, Trades Talk.

Gray began her career with ITA in 2013 as director of customer experience. In that role, she led the launch of the Apprenticeship Advisors program, which allocated 15 advisors across British Columbia to provide regional support for the trades.

She has a Bachelor of Arts in International Business from the University of Alberta and a Leadership Development Certificate from the University of British Columbia Sauder School of Business.

Gray also has an INSEAD Executive Leadership Certificate in Driving Value through Business Acumen.

“I want to ensure ITA remains customer focused, keeping apprentices, employers and equity-seeking groups front-of-mind by removing obstacles and barriers to apprenticeship completion,” said Gray. www.itabc.ca
