New Construction Trades Added to Support Ontario Youth

With help from Support Ontario Youth, as a group sponsor, apprentices are mentored and properly supported so they can start networking within their desired trade.

Support Ontario Youth (SOY), a group sponsor in the construction and industrial trades, has received approval to support additional trades in the construction sectors.

Since 2018, SOY has registered over 400 new apprentices, awarded over 60 scholarships, and continues to support over 200 employers with a passionate interest in apprenticeship training.

With help from SOY, apprentices are mentored and properly supported so they can start networking within their desired trade.

A full list of what is currently supported in the construction sector can be found below:

  1. 306A – Plumber
  2. 308A – Sheet Metal Worker (NEW)
  3. 308R – Residential (Low-rise) Sheet Metal Installer (NEW)
  4. 309A – Electrician – Construction and Maintenance
  5. 313A – Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic (NEW)
  6. 313D – Residential Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic (NEW)

SOY is a ministry-approved apprenticeship sponsor group working with current and future apprentices, employers, and industry stakeholders to provide support in streamlining the apprenticeship pathway in Ontario.
