HRAI has announced Patrick Nelson and Monika Arora winners of the Orvil L. Davie Bursary.

The Orvil L. Davie Bursary Fund was established by HRAI to assist students in completing their education for a career in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration industry (HVAC/R).

The $1,000 bursary assists in maintaining a higher caliber of HVAC/R industry personnel.

Patrick Nelson is currently enrolled in the Refrigeration Mechanics program at Camosun College in Victoria, BC.  He finds the refrigeration trade fascinating and when the pandemic struck and he lost his job, he knew it was an opportunity to get into a new field and into the trades.

“I am very happy that I switched my career from a nurse to a HVAC/R technician and that my hard work and enthusiasm is being recognized by HRAI,” says Arora. “This is an emotional moment for me because when I was about to start this program, I was advised to do more in my own nursing field but I did what made me happy.”

The deadline for the next applications is February 28, 2022.
