The Master Group L.P. of Boucherville, QC has announced the signing of an agreement for the acquisition of all assets of the distribution component of Eastern Refrigeration Supply Co. Ltd. This transaction, which will take effect on March 31, includes the workforce of the Ontario distributors’ headquarters, distribution centre and Markham branch.

All Eastern employees will stay in place. In addition, Doug Merkel will also remain in position and his role will be to facilitate the transition and ensure liaison with customers and suppliers. George Merkel and David Merkel will ensure the continuity of Eastern whose activities are now focused on redistribution operations to wholesalers, distributors and manufacturers.

“The completion of this acquisition, which began with three branches of Eastern Refrigeration in 2011, represents an important step supporting the Master Group’s strategy to become a national leader in the HVAC-R industry. It allows us to reach a critical point in our progression into new geographic territories and opens new avenues towards a national platform,” said Michel Ringuet, chief executive officer, The Master Group. “Above all, the addition of this distribution centre based in the heart of the Greater Toronto Area allows us to better serve our existing customers and to progress into the Western part of the country. Furthermore, it allows to free up resources and capacity of the Boucherville distribution centre for our expansion projects in Eastern Canada, from Quebec to the Atlantic Provinces. The Master Group intends to implement several projects during the year, including the opening of a new branch in Mississauga this spring.”

The company, still operating under the name of Eastern Refrigeration, will continue its activities in the specific field of redistribution to wholesalers, distributors and manufacturers at a new location to be announced in March 2014.

Nouvelle acquisition pour Master 

Le 13 février, Groupe Master S.E.C. a annoncé la conclusion d’un accord en vue d’acquérir tous les actifs du volet distribution d’Eastern Refrigeration Supply Co.Cette transaction, qui prendra effet le 31 mars prochain, englobe les effectifs du siège social, du centre de distribution et de la succursale du distributeur ontarien situés à Markham. Il est à noter que tous les employés d’Eastern resteront en poste. L’ajout de ce centre de distribution au coeur du Toronto métropolitain permettra à l’entreprise de mieux desservir sa clientèle existante et de prendre de l’expansion vers l’ouest du pays. Mentionnons également que Groupe Masterentend réaliser de nombreux projets dans le courant de l’année, dont l’ouverture d’une nouvelle succursale à Mississauga au printemps 2014.
