Jam packed program for ASPE Tech Symposium

September 21, 2017 | By HPAC Magazine

ASPE technical sessions are designed to help plumbing industry professionals at all career levels learn new skills or refresh their design repertoire.

The 2017 ASPE Tech Symposium is being held October 19 to 22, 2017, at the Hotel Bonaventure Montréal in Montréal, QC. In addition to the Product Show, ASPE’s Technical Symposium features education sessions for those who pay the full registration fee. Each session offers 0.15 CEUs that can be used for license and certification continuing education requirements. Session tracks include the business of plumbing engineering, materials and equipment, designing across borders, and fire and life safety.

On October 21, attendees may tour the Jean R. Marcotte wastewater treatment plant for an exclusive behind the scenes look at the largest wastewater treatment plant in North America and the third largest in the world. This facility treats 50 per cent of the Quebec province’s wastewater and processes anywhere from 2.5 million cubic meters to 7.5 million cubic meters wastewater per day.

As a new feature of the Technical Symposium, engineers and designers just starting out in their career can participate in an exclusive full-day course, which was created for those who want to learn more details about the systems they currently design. It is targeted toward ASPE Young Professionals who might be attending the AYP Leadership Academy titled “What they don’t teach you in college” on October 19. Centred on commercial kitchen design, this course touches on a multitude of systems. Attendees will receive 0.6 CEUs (six hours) for participating in the course, which is equivalent to CEUs for participating in the four breakout sessions on the same day at the Technical Symposium. The workshop includes a lunch break with the other conference attendees.

Networking events include an evening at Rage Montreal, an indoor axe throwing range located in the city’s downtown.
