Consumers may spend more money at businesses with clean, well-stocked restrooms, according to the 10th annual Healthy Hand Washing Survey by Bradley Corp.
The survey of U.S. adults found that 52 per cent of respondents were more likely to spend money, while 64 per cent would make a “conscious decision” to choose a business if it has a clean, well-maintained restroom.
Even more, one in three Americans said they would pay to use a restroom that was clean and well-stocked.
“Consistently, over the 10 years of our survey, a large majority of Americans say they expect a high quality business to have a high quality restroom,” said Jon Dommisse, director of strategy and corporate development for Bradley.
Despite visiting restrooms regularly, respondents reported an increasingly high degree of aggravation with them, according to Bradley.
Topping the list include toilets that are clogged or not flushed, empty or jammed toilet paper dispensers, and partition doors that do not latch.
