MCEE 2023 Opens to Welcoming Crowd

The bi-annual combined mechanical/electrical trade show in Montreal returns after the 2021 event was cancelled due to the pandemic.

Members of the plumbing, HVAC/R and electrical trades were lined up as the doors opened for the 2023 edition of MCEE (Mécanex/Climatex/Expolectriq/Éclairage) at 9 a.m. on Wednesday for the bi-annual trade show being held in the heart of downtown Montreal.

This marks the first MCEE show since 2019 after the 2021 event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Close to 400 exhibitors were on hand to promote thousands of products to the trades. On the eve of the trade show the organizers announced the winners of its New Products Competition.

There were 59 products entered in the competition and winners were announced in nine categories, the winning plumbing/HVAC products included:

  • Forced-air heating, cooling and ventilation appliances and components
    Winner: RefPlus – Evolution Series CO2 condensing unit
  • Hydronic heating, cooling and hot water production appliances and components
    Winner: Mitsubishi Electric – QAHV hot water heat pump
  • Plumbing fixtures and faucets
    Winner: Moen – Smart sump pump monitor
  • Pipes, backflow preventers, cisterns and accessories
    Winner: Ecotime – Oasis rainwater harvesting system
  • Tools, machinery, protective and other equipment
    Winner: Maria Catherina Construction Products – plugs/sleeves for concrete slabs

MCEE 2023 runs Wednesday, April 19 and Thursday, April 20. The show is produced by the Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating (CIPH), the Corporation of Master Pipe Mechanics of Quebec (CMMTQ), the Corporation of Master Electricians of Quebec (CMEQ) and the Corporation des entreprises en traitement de l’air et du froid (CETAF).
