Viega launching trades training program in Canada

July 24, 2013 | By HPAC Magazine

Viega is establishing the Viega Academy Partner Program in Canada this fall to help further its commitment to training the next generation of tradespeople. The program will be offered to a select group of trades training institutions by providing new types of curriculum resources that can be added to existing training programs. Mark Evans, director of sales for Viega in Canada, said the program is designed specifically for students in order to give them more exposure since most industry training only focuses on fully qualified contractors already working in the field. “The concept of the Viega Academy Partner Program was to create a new and different kind of partnership with trades training institutions and engage apprentices earlier in their career,” he said. He emphasized the program is not product based, nor is it a “sales pitch” for the company. It is designed to be a resource that teaches transferable skills to budding apprentices which they can apply immediately, as well as throughout their careers. Viega is currently establishing partnerships throughout Canada and intends to begin registering prospective students in 16 institutions this September. For more information contact Mark Evans at mark.evans@viega.com.
