Crossing jurisdictions: Share your apprentice experience

January 21, 2015 | By HPAC Magazine

CAF-FCA is asking employers and apprentices to participate in its Labour Mobility of Apprentices survey.

As part of its Labour Mobility of Apprentices project, the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum (CAF-FCA) would like to hear from employers who have hired apprentices initially trained elsewhere, and apprentices who have moved to complete their apprenticeship. Employers and apprentices who have had those experiences are asked to participate in a survey with the goal being to gather insights into the challenges associated with hiring from another region. Appropriate resources would then be developed to help apprentices and employers meet the administrative requirements and have a successful transition. Streamlining mobility allows for more opportunities to complete work hours, reduced likelihood that apprentices will discontinue when they lose their job, more efficient progression and better long-term labour market outcomes.

Participation the survey, which is scheduled for February 2015, is voluntary and anonymous. Results will be aggregated and summarized in a final report. Contact Emily Arrowsmith: emily@caf-fca.org for more information.
