Third RIDE FOR HABITAT set for July 21, 2012

March 15, 2012 | By HPAC Magazine

Start your engines. The third annual “Ride for Habitat” will take place on Saturday, July 21. The ride will raise funds for Habitat for Humanity Canada, a national, non-profit organization that makes homeownership possible for low-income families that could not otherwise afford to own a home. The Ride for Habitat was established to raise awareness of the charity, as well as to raise funds to help build Habitat homes in Canada. The 2011 Ride for Habitat had just over 50 riders and raised almost $11 000. The Committee hopes to double those figures in 2012. There will be multiple routes culminating at a common meeting place for lunch. Ride start points will be in Woodbridge; Kitchener/Waterloo; Hamilton/Milton; and Belleville/Peterborough. If you do not ride you can support the cause by pledging to the member riders who can. The Ride for Habitat is organized by Habitat for Humanity Canada and the Huronia affiliate, with support from volunteers of the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI) and the Canadian Institute of Plumbing & Heating (CIPH).
“We’re excited to be working with members of the heating and plumbing industry” said Habitat Huronia representative Ivan Sharp. “The Ride for Habitat is a perfect way for industry members to help build homes for Canadian families needing a hand-up and to enjoy their passion for riding at the same time”.
Registration is $50 per bike ($50 covers registration for both the rider and the passenger) and is available online at www.rideforhabitat.com. Riders will receive a Free 2012 Ride for Habitat T-shirt, as well as lunch and the chance to win prizes at Bayview Memorial Park in Oro, just north of Barrie.
