Canadians among winners of ASHRAE Awards

Two Canadians were presented with the Distinguished 50-Year Member Award.

ASHRAE recognized the contributions of members to the association and the built environment industry during its honours and awards program at the 2023 Annual Conference in Tampa.

Among those honoured were a few Canadian-based members:

  • Badri Patel, BEAP, received the Dan Mills Chapter Programs Award, which recognizes excellence in chapter program endeavours. Patel is an HVAC equipment account executive, Johnson Controls, Toronto.

Two Canadians were presented with the Distinguished 50-Year Member Award, given to individuals who have been a member for a minimum of 50 years, and are either a past Society president, Fellow ASHRAE or Distinguished Service Award recipient or who have performed outstanding service to ASHRAE or its predecessor societies – the American Society of Heating and Ventilating Engineers (ASHVE), the American Society of Refrigerating Engineers (ASRE), and the American Society of Heating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHAE).

  • Hakim H. Elmahdy, Fellow Life Member, retired, Orleans, Ont.
  • Blair McCarry, P.Eng., P.E., Fellow Life Member, owner, Blair McCarry Consulting, Vancouver.
